NOW OPEN: CfR. 5/2020/1 Invitation to request knowledge for informed decision-making

Policy and other societal actors are invited to identify topics or evidence needs relating to biodiversity and ecosystem services and of EU policy relevance, requiring in-depth analysis and a consolidated view from science and other knowledge holders.

The purpose of EKLIPSE is to answer questions related to biodiversity and make evidence-based decisions through a request process which involves inviting decision-makers, practitioners or other stakeholders to submit proposals via different types of Calls. EKLIPSE has successfully finalized a number of requests, and we currently have as well ongoing request at various stages o the process.

A request can be categorized in one or more ot the four groups according to the type of procedure to follow for answering the request. Click below on the different categories to learn more about our requests:

KNOWLEDGE SYNTHESIS

Enable policy-makers and other societal actors to make use of existing studies by synthesising available knowledge. This way EKLIPSE can help to answer decision-makers’ questions about biodiversity and ecosystem services issues that require an in-depth collection, analysis and synthesis of existing knowledge from the scientific literature and other sources of knowledge This process can also help decision-makers identify knowledge gaps. More information on the Knowledge synthesis request process here.

Past Calls for requests

Our first Call for Requests (CfR.1/2016, Sept 2016) generated 15 submissions (see pdf) and resulted in the selection of five requests.

Our second Call for Requests (CfR.2/2017, Oct 2017) generated 12 submissions (see pdf) and resulted in the selection of five requests.

Our third Call for Requests (CfR.3/2018, April 2018) resulted in ten requests, four of which were selected to go through to the scoping phase. Based on a suggestion from the Strategic Advisory Body (SAB), they first went through a dynamic phase of cross-fertilisation where we invited requesters and other parties to discuss potential partnerships on a request, contribute to the framing of a request, and/or potentially merge two or more requests into a more strategic EU policy-relevant question.
